Ben Jones Seniors 2022 Review

Season 2022 was a year of transition and change for the Men's teams.

A new Coaching
Staff in the Seniors, Development Squad and the Colts, a change-over of some senior
talent and the challenge of an ever-improving competition, we understood the big
challenges ahead this season.

With some great early wins, highlighted by beating arch rival Noosa at Noosa on
Anzac Day, as well as some agonisingly close losses to top teams, results were up
and down for the Senior team. With our depth already tested, some season-ending
injuries to critical players were extremely hard to cover and had us with our backs
to the wall late in the year.

As a result, just missing playing in Finals was still
a very frustrating result, as that is why we play State Level football.

It was a real highlight to have our Development Squad and Colts team playing Finals
football. Unfortunately, both teams were knocked out before reaching Grand Finals,
but we were super proud of their efforts and are very excited about the growth and
development of the players in these squads. We know that lots of these players will
progress through to become our future QAFL level players, which provides us with
great excitement and confidence.

We know where we need to improve, we understand the gaps we need to fill, and we
are excited about working our way back to the top of the QAFL ladder in 2023. Our
game style is highly competitive against the best teams in the competition, so we
can’t wait to make big improvements and get Maroochydore back playing Finals footy
in 2023.
