Update - Men’s QAFL Program

The senior men’s preseason program commenced in mid-November 2022 for an initial 6 week pre-season block. The sessions comprised a significant strength and fitness component lead by new Strength & Conditioning Coach Chris Turner, which focussed on building a solid endurance base, followed by core skills and match simulation lead by senior coach Ben Jones.

Training then re-commenced after a 4 week Christmas break with the same 3 x session per week training structure where the Strength and Conditioning has transitioned to a sprint/recovery focus. Training has also taken a greater focus on match simulation and game plan development in preparation for the upcoming trial games.

Recruitment and list management commenced in early September 2022 with individual end of season meetings held with all senior players. Pleasingly, commitment was obtained from 23 of our top 25 contracted players through this process. We have also been successful securing a number of returning Roos in Harrison Kerr, Liam Jacka, Max MacDonald, Riley McMillan and Josh Keleher. Sam MacKenzie and Ben Kethro are also progressing well from long term injuries.

In addition, we welcome a number of well credentialled recruits lead by former Melbourne Demon Josh Wagner along with Jack Lang and Nathan Surman from SA and Issaac Carroll from Wagga Wagga.

Overall, we are really pleased with the overall fitness levels, composition of the squad and their commitment and buy in to the game plan.

Some upcoming dates for the calendar are provided below. We’d love to get all of our valued supporters and sponsors along in the lead up to what we believe will be a highly successful 2023 season.

  • 18 March – Trial Vs Wilston Grange @ Home;
